Viewing Preview Charts
Preview charts are small thumbnail charts that are created when a chart view is requested from a table view that warrants more than one chart (see below for the conditions when preview charts appear). To enlarge a preview chart and display it as a standard chart, click on the thumbnail.
To return to the preview charts for a chart page, do one of the following:
- Click View Preview Charts .
- Select View menu > View preview charts.
Preview charts appear under the following conditions:
- If the chart has too many rows to display in one chart. The number of rows in a chart is limited by the number of available colors (64 by default).
Note: There is no limit to the number of columns a chart can have. Therefore a large data series of more than 64 items should be placed on the columns. - If the chart is a pie chart. A pie chart can only represent one data series. If a table has more than one data series, preview charts will be created.
- If the chart has nested row dimensions.
A preview chart allows you to switch, move, and nest dimensions as you would in a table. To rearrange dimensions, do one of the following:
- Drag and drop the dimension tiles.
- Use the Rearrange report dialog to arrange dimensions without using drag-and-drop. (Click Table options > Rearrange report, or select View menu > Table options > Rearrange report.)
