Creating and Editing a Custom Band

To open the Create Custom Bands dialog:

• Select a dimension in the Dimension list. Dimensions and hierarchies for which banding has been enabled have a special icon:
• Open the Custom bands tab, and then click Create custom bands.

A band is a range of data values, such as ages from 18-30 or prices from 10-20 dollars. You can create your own custom bands and include them in reports.

To create custom bands:

• First select either Multiple bands or Single band.

Multiple bands

To create multiple bands enter a start value and an increment, and then click OK.

For example, in a hierarchy of ages, entering a start value of 18 and an increment of 5 would create the following bands:

• [18, 23)
• [23, 28)
• [28, 33)

... and so on. A square bracket means the value is inclusive and a round bracket means the value is exclusive. In this example, the first band includes ages from 18 to 22; the second band includes ages from 23 to 27; and the third band includes values from 28 to 32.

Single Band

• To create a single band enter From and To values, and indicate whether each value is inclusive or exclusive.
• You can enter a name for the band if you wish. If left blank, a default name will be provided.
